New Albany Police Seize Nearly $500,000 in Marijuana

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — One drug dealer is going to be left holding the bag after New Albany Police take his suitcase and the 50 pounds of dope inside.

Narcotics agents performed a random stop of a Greyhound bus on Hwy 78 just after lunch today.

New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said the department’s drug dog hit on a suitcase containing 50 pounds of marijuana.  Robertson said the bag, which came from Austin, Tx., was full of high-quality hydroponic marijuana with a street value of $450,000.

The investigation into the intended destination of the drug continues.
