COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. — The commander of the 14th Flying Training Wing has been selected for his next assignment following his two-year tour here.

After two years leading the 14th FTW, Col. Jim Sears will pass command to Col. John Nichols in a formal change-of-command ceremony on July 11. Nichols is coming to the 14th FTW from a deployed location where he was the Operations Group Commander. Col. Nichols is a senior pilot with more than 2,000 flight hours in the B-1, MQ-9, T-37, and T-38 aircraft, including 662 combat hours. He was commissioned in 1992 after receiving his degree in Political Science from the United States Air Force Academy.

Colonel Sears will be assigned to the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, Texas as the Chief of Officer Assignments. Maj. Gen. Michael Keltz, Director of Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, will officiate the 10:00 a.m. ceremony July 11.
