OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A new conservator has been named as the replacement for Jayne Sargent for the Oktibbeha County School District. At a meeting on Monday (12-10) Margie Pulley was announced as Sargent’s successor. Sargent’s tenure as the OCSD conservator ends when school lets out this month at which point Pulley will take over as acting conservator. Pulley retired September first from the Greenwood Public School District where she spent her entire 40 year career. This will be Pulley’s first time serving as a school district’s conservator and her tenure has not been set yet by the state. Pulley plans to familiarize herself with the district this week and spend the weeks to come analyzing data and aspects of all departments. A meeting has been tentatively set for January seventh at 9 am at the Starkville Sportsplex where she will discuss her expectations with the staff. The meeting will be open to the public. The regularly scheduled OCSD meeting will still be on January tenth at noon giving her time to adjust to her new position. Along with Sargent’s announcement of her successor Candace Cooper’s resignation of the OCSD’s special education director was also announced. Ginger Cockrell has been announced as her replacement. This leaves the position as principle vacant for the East Oktibbeha County High School which will be advertised this week.
