Video: New Main Street Columbus Director

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Main Street Columbus names its new director.

Nickie Nicholson is a former middle school teacher who grew up Atlanta, Georgia.

While working as a spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Massachusetts, she discovered her passion for event planning and management.

Main Street’s mission is to enhance local culture and quality of life through the growth and preservation of the Downtown historic district.

Nicholson’s first official day on the job will be December 10th.

Nicholson says, ” Thank you for having me. I hope everyone enjoys the things I bring to the table. And (I) really look forward to becoming an integral part of the community. ”

Nicholson replaces Amber Murphree-Brislin as Main Street Director.

Murphree-Brislin says she loved her 5 years on the job and plans to stay very active in the Columbus community.
