Growing up in Covington, Louisiana, Shelby had a great deal of exposure to severe and tropical weather. In 2005, she watched as Hurricane Katrina impacted her family, friends, and entire community. In those days and months following the storm, she gained a great amount of respect for the meteorologists who tirelessly covered the devastating event, and she knew then that she wanted to learn about all types of weather and pursue her childhood dream of becoming a Meteorologist.

At Mississippi State University, Shelby is pursuing a major in both professional and broadcast meteorology and a minor in marketing. There, she has had the opportunity to storm chase in the Great Plains. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association for whom she serves on the Membership and Marketing Committee. She previously worked as a Weekend Meteorologist for both WeatherVision in Jackson, MS and for WABG in Greenville, MS. She is very excited to join the First Alert Forecast Team at WCBI in serving the community.

When she isn’t working, she likes to bake, and she has even tried her hand at cake decorating! Shelby and her boyfriend are running enthusiasts and are currently training to run their first marathon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in December. She also enjoys spending time in Southern Louisiana with her big, Italian family and cheering on the New Orleans Saints.

Shelby hopes to continue using her knowledge and passion for weather and marketing to keep the public weather aware.
