NMMC Disputes Curtis Claims

(TUPELO, Ms) (WCBI)  North Mississippi Medical Center says it did not terminate accused poison letter sender Kevin Curtis because of claims he made about the hospital.

In a series of posts on various websites, Curtis claimed he was fired from the hospital because he threatened to expose an alleged scheme where someone was collecting body parts at the hospital morgue and selling them on the black market.

In its statement, NMMC says it was breaking from normal practice and acknowledging Curtis was an employee from 1998 to 2000 and that he was not terminated because of the claims he made about the hospital.

The statement also says NMMC is required by federal law to have an arrangement with an outside organ procurement agency to harvest organs from people who desire to donate.  Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency is in charge of harvesting donated organs and removes them from the hospital immediately for transplant procedures at other hospitals.  NMMC says it receives no payment for the organs.
