TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) The annual NMMC “Live Well Health Fair” drew thousands to the Tupelo Furniture Market. There were a number of low cost procedures available, such as cholesterol and glucose screenings, bone density tests and prostate cancer screenings.

More than 60 booths from NMMC and various health related groups were at the fair.

However, the biggest draw was the free flu shots for the public.

“Flu season is here and we are encouraging everyone over six months of age to get a flu shot.Used to be people thought older folks and sick folks and health care workers needed a flu shot but everyone needs a flu shot, we want to keep people out of the emergency department and out of the hospital,” says Ellen Friloux of NMMC.

The event is sponsored by NMMC and the Mississippi Department of Health.
