Video: No Foul Play Suspected in West Point Death

WEST POINT, Miss. (Press Release) — The West Point Police Department is investigating the death of a resident that was found early this morning on 1137 East Churchill Rd. Police were dispatched to the resident after a relative discovered the body shortly after 8:00 am. Authorities are delaying the release of the name of the deceased pending notification of family members. The victim is only described as a white female in her mid-fifties.

The Clay County Medical Examiner was called to the scene by emergency medical personnel and is aiding in the investigation. Evidence collected at the scene is consistent with suicide but police is not revealing the position or condition of the body. There were no other parties at the residence until the body was discovered this morning. They are also not releasing cause of death at this time.

The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson for an autopsy. Chief Tim Brinkley said, “Everything about this case suggests self-inflicted and unless the medical examiner’s report contradicts our initial findings, that’s the direction we looking right now.”
