LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Randy and Diane Hodges’ home was destroyed by the massive April 28th tornado.

Now the non-profit group, God’s Pit Crew, is building them a new home for free.

“They were the first family that we got to when we came initially here, and was just really moved by their story,” said Randy Johnson, God’s Pit Crew. “They had both been married previously, and both their spouses had passed away with cancer.”

These workers say God called them to come back to Louisville for a second time to help the Hodges.

“We responded to the tornado after it first happened, brought crews in, cut trees, moved debris, tarped roofs, brought in tractor trailer loads of product, done anything we could to help out,” Johnson said.

Volunteers started working on the home last Sunday, and expect to finish in 14 days.

It’s a project they’re proud to work on.

“These just seem to be some fantastic people who’ve worked hard all their lives and done everything they could to do the right things, and have a decent home, and a decent life, and it was all taken away from them,” Johnson said. “To be able to come down and give just a few days of our time to help them get their lives started back over is very rewarding for us.”

Hodges says having a new roof over their heads will be a blessing.

“Now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Hodges said. “Looking back on it, it wasn’t so awful bad, but we’re making it through, we sure are.”

The Hodges plan to move into their new home next Friday.
