Long-time head basketball coach T.J. Billups has resigned at Noxubee County.

Head basketball coach T.J. Billups has resigned as boys and girls basketball coach at Noxubee County High School, after spending 11 years with the Tigers.

Billups was hired to coach the Tigers in 2002 after the retirement of long-time Tiger coach Willie Triplett. He then took on the added responsibilities of being the head coach of the Tigerettes beginning in 2011 after the retirement of A.E. Williams.

Billups, a Jackson native, was a stand-out in high school with the Lanier Bulldogs before playing college basketball at Mississippi State. He amassed a 260-138 record with the Tigers in his 11 years as head coach.

One of his best seasons as head coach came this past year where he coached the Tigers to the 4A North half semifinals before losing to eventual State runner-up Corinth.

Coach Billups also led the Tigerettes to a 33-28 record in his two years as head coach.
