Nunnelee Takes Oath of Office From Hospital

Tupelo, M.S. – Today, in the presence of family, Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) was sworn in to the 114th Congress by the Honorable Judge Michael P. Mills of the Northern District of Mississippi.

After returning to Washington, D.C. for the November and December work weeks, Nunnelee experienced a hematoma in his left leg over the holidays and was admitted to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on December 28. Doctors have been able to control the bleeding, but continue to work to alleviate his pain caused by the hematoma. The physical stress of the hematoma and the disruption to regularly scheduled speech, occupational, and physical therapy has taken a physical toll on Nunnelee. According to doctors, this is not unusual in the recovery process.

Nunnelee has been moved to the rehabilitation wing of the North Mississippi Medical Center. He has begun easing back in to speech, occupational, and physical therapy and is working to regain his strength. At this time, doctors have not specified a date of discharge from the hospital and reiterated that recovery will simply take time.

Nunnelee and his family send their appreciation for the prayers and understanding during this time.

Please continue to direct any inquiries to Rep. Nunnelee’s official office.
