OKTIBBEHA, Miss. (WCBI) — During today’s regularly scheduled board meeting, supervisors moved to promote Comptroller Emily Garrard to county administrator with a 4-1 vote.

District Three Supervisor Marshall Howard made the motion to promote Garrard.

The vote was met with a bit of friction, however, when Board President Orlando Trainer voted against the motion. Orlando pushed to hire Jackson’s Former Deputy Chief Administrator Ivory Williams.

Earlier this year, more than 30 candidates had been in the stack for the position.
