Ole Miss is headed to the College World Series for the first time since 1972 as the Rebels defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 10-4 in Monday’s NCAA Super Regional at Lafayette, La.

Ole Miss won the best-of-3 series, winning on Sunday and Monday night.

It was the pinch hitting Holt Perdzock that blew it open in the 9th inning for Ole Miss as the Rebels would go up by 5 and cruise to victory behind Josh Laxer in the bottom of the 9th.

The victory by Ole Miss is their 46th win of the year. They eliminated a Louisiana-Lafayette team that hadn’t lost back to back games all season long.

The Rebels will now prepare for a trip to Omaha and the College World Series. Their first game will take place on Sunday, 7:00pm vs. No. 3 Virginia.

The Cavaliers are the highest seeded team still remaining in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Both nationally seeded teams that still remain in the Tournament are on the Ole Miss side of the bracket.

We’ll have more from Lafayette on WCBI Sunrise with Tommy Lopez plus plenty more on Tuesday with Robby Donoho on WCBI Sports.
