Update: Man Shot in Macon Armed Robbery

MACON, Miss., (WCBI) — Macon police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that sent a service station clerk to the hospital.

Chief Lucious Mason tells WCBI right now they have a person of interest in custody, but no charges have been filed.

28-year-old Kris Haywood, of Macon, was shot multiple times late Monday night during an armed robbery at the Local Express Service Station on Jefferson Street.

He’s an attendant at the gas station there.

Haywood was taken to a Meridian hospital and then transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson where he is in stable condition.

Chief Mason only had a vague description of the shooting suspect – just that he’s about six feet tall with a slim build.

Anyone with information is asked to call Macon police at 662-726-5255.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is also helping with the case.
