One Injured in Iuka Kidnapping and Assault

IUKA, Mississippi (RELEASE) — On February 25, 2014, deputies with the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicular assault and kidnapping at the entrance to Hoover Stone on CR-957 in the Midway Community.

When deputies arrived they spoke with a female subject who stated she had been dragged down the roadway and her 4-week old baby had been forcibly taken from her. The suspect was reported to be the baby’s father. According to witnesses, the father forcefully took the child and car seat from the mother’s vehicle and when she attempted to stop him an altercation ensued. During this altercation, the mother of the child was dragged out of the vehicle and then down the roadway while attempting to stop the father from leaving with the child.

A description of the vehicle and the subject involved were quickly relayed to other officers and agencies.

A sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle on CR-181 and initiated a traffic stop. Steven Noyola, 19, of Cherokee, Alabama was taken into custody. The Department of Human Services was contacted to care for the child. The child suffered no injuries as a result of the events that had taken place.

The female victim was transported from the scene to the Iuka Hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained during the altercation.

Steven Noyola has been charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, and child abuse. He remains in custody at the Tishomingo County Jail.
