One Man Injured in West Point Shooting

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured and sent neighbors into a panic. It took the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies to capture two suspects. Those gunshots sent many of the residents on Roger Road running for cover around 6:45 Tuesday evening. Police don’t know yet what led to the shooting. They say Dennis Ray Bean was shot several times. He was flown to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. One witness says he was in the back of his home when he heard the shots. He then saw the victim running through his backyard. Neighbors say they have never seen this type of violence in their community. 24-year-old Jonathan Guines, of West Point, is being held at the Clay County Jail, charged with aggravated assault. His bond has been set at 200,000 dollars. No word on Bean’s condition.
