Oxford School Board Approves Funding Request to Prop New High School, Renovated Middle School

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Owners of a $250,000 home in Oxford will pay about $50 more a year in school taxes this fall.

The city school board approved the funding request to offset costs of running and staffing the district’s new high school and renovated middle school, which will open in August. The proposal was the top end among three considered to fund the district’s $35.4 million budget which starts July 1.

School leaders say they didn’t want to raise taxes but considered the small investment important to maintaining one of the state’s best systems.
