LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Golden Triangle teachers and parents spent their weekend learning how to better public schools.

The three day workshop showed attendees how to be advocates for public schools by partnering with schools districts to help improve student achievement and help their own children be successful. One trainer of the event says communities support impacts the surrounding schools.

“The communities that wrap their arms around their public schools are the ones generally speaking where those schools are successful where teachers moral is high, where graduation rates are going up and where students are being prepared for college and career,” says Sally Gray.

The workshop was held at Plymouth Bluff.
