BROOKSVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Random gunfire in a parking lot lands a man in jail and Brooksville police warn they aren’t going to put up with the nonsense.

Dennis Davis, 21, has been charged with felony malicious mischief after Brooksville Police Chief Reginald Adams says he fired at least one shot in a parking lot that struck a car.

Adams says officers found a shell casing in the parking lot of Geraldine Place on Sherrod Street. A gun also was confiscated from Davis.

The building is a day car center on weekdays but is rented out on some weekend for parties and other events. It was rented Saturday night for a pre-Valentine birthday party, but the person who rents the building said people at the party weren’t involved.

Neighbors in the residential area say they are thankful for an arrest because they don’t want gunfire in their neighborhood.
