Parvin’s Lawyers Ask for New Bond

Parvin

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A week after his bond was revoked over concerns for his mental health, David Parvin wants a judge to grant him bail once again.

In 11-page motion filed today in Monroe County Circuit Court, Parvin’s attorney, Jim Waide, says a private psychiatric examination found the 73-year-old Parvin was not a threat.

Two years ago, the former MSU professor was sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife in 2007 at their Aberdeen home. He insisted the shooting was an accident.

Earlier this year, the state Supreme Court threw out the conviction because a state expert testified about computer recreations that were beyond his expertise.

A judge granted bond and Parvin was granted release.

But when he was taken to the Monroe County Jail rather than set free, he became upset and got into a fight with a deputy. That led to him being jailed again.

His attorneys say he is safe to release to prepare for a new trial.
