Video: Patient Seeks Treatment at NMMC for Ebola Despite Being Asymptomatic

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) says a patient who had concerns about the Ebola virus was treated despite being asymptomatic.

The hospital says the unidentified person came into the emergency department this afternoon.

The patient was evaluated, and the medical facility says its staff followed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety.

NMMC says the hospital is open with no concerns.

At Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant’s request, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) says it is working with the Mississippi State Department of Health and other agencies to ensure a coordinated response with the state’s public health emergency plans.

The Mississippi Department of Health has emergency response drills and planning for diseases.
