Perkins, Moncrief Impress At Combine

(WCBI Sports) – A few former Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama players worked out at the NFL Combine Sunday in Indianapolis. Former MSU running back LaDarius Perkins and former Ole Miss wide receiver Donte Moncrief have the most impressive performances.

Perkins ran a 4.46 40-yard dash. It was the fifth-fastest time of the 36 running backs. His 23 reps on the bench press are the third-best among the backs.

Moncrief ran a 4.40 40. That was the second-fast time of the 48 wide receivers. His 13 reps on bench press was in the middle of the pack but a 39.5’’ vertical leap is the third-best and he was tied for the best broad jump at 11’.

Former Alabama wideout Kevin Norwood ran a 4.48 40, had 8 reps on bench press, a 33’’ vertical jump and a 10’1’’ broad jump.

Former SEC QB’s AJ McCarron, Johnny Manziel, Zach Mettenberger and Connor Shaw all worked out as well. Manziel running a 4.68 40-yard dash, the third-fastest among the 19 quarterbacks.

Former MSU offensive lineman Gabe Jackson put up 30 reps on bench press Saturday.

The NFL Draft is May 8.
