Video: Person of Interest in Custody After Lee Co. Fatal Shooting

VERONA, Miss. – (WCBI) Lee County deputies say a person of interest in a weekend shooting that left one dead and another injured is behind bars.
Deputies say that 33-year old Roy Merritt is in custody as of Monday afternoon.

41-year old Rodney Lowery, of Verona, was killed after gunfire erupted on City Point Road on Saturday.
Cornell Weatherspoon was also injured, but has since been treated and released.

Law enforcement believe the shooting was a result of an ongoing dispute.

No word on if Merritt has been officially charged in the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation.
