PITTSBORO CITY, Miss. (WCBI) — One of the smallest county seats in Mississippi will get a chance to vote on whether to allow beer and alcohol sales. But it’ll be Oct. 7 before they know when.
Pittsboro City Attorney Ben Suber is reviewing petitions calling for both a beer and alcohol referendum.
The petitions must be reviewed by Calhoun County election officials.
Aldermen for the town of 200 will set the election date at their Oct. 7 meeting. If state law allows, they’ll do it with the Nov. 4 state and federal elections.
The referendum is under a new state law that allows county seats, no matter how small, to hold alcohol referendums.
