Plantersville Holds Special Election to Fill Empty Alderman Seat Following Resignation

PLANTERSVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Plantersville residents are hitting the polls today to cast a ballot to fill an empty seat on its Board of Aldermen.

Plantersville City Clerk Norma Ballard said the special election was the product of Alderman Ketrick Marion’s resignation Feb. 27.

Ballard added there are three candidates in the pool for the seat. Running to earn their place on the board are Charlotte Diggs, Chink Freeman and Shelton Shannon.

Polls will close at 7 p.m. tonight, with results following shortly afterward. Ballard said election workers will do a hand count rather than taking the electronic route.
