Pleasant Saturday, Wet Sunday

Saturday is shaping up to be pretty nice for this time of year.  We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds along with pleasant temperatures in the 60 degree range.  What a great start to the weekend!

Unfortunately, the end of the weekend won’t be so nice.  Rain and embedded storms will increase in coverage during the day Sunday and several inches of rain will be possible.  There is still the risk for some strong storm activity, especially southwest of Winona and Kosciusko where the air may be a little bit more unstable.  Locations south of I-20 still appear more at risk for strong storms.  We’ll continue to monitor the situation.

We’ll get a bit of a break on Monday as the best rain chances shift into central and southern Mississippi; however, more steady showers are expected to surge back our way on Tuesday.  The wet weather should come to an end Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  Total rainfall amounts around here between Sunday and Wednesday morning could add up to 4″ or more.  Flooding may become a threat in some areas during this time.  Some data also suggest that there could be a mix of rain and snow across parts of north Mississippi as the system pulls away Wednesday morning but it’s still a bit iffy, especially this far out in time.
