PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) – They scrubbed down the tombs of some great people in history.
Dozens in the Pontotoc community got together to clean up the city cemetery. The cemetery is a historical part of the city and holds the tomb stone of some of the cousins of George Washington’s wife Martha. The cemetery borders North Main and Bolton Street. Volunteers worked on removing weeds, old flowers, repairing graves, fences and even broken tombstones. From now on, the city has declared every second Saturday in June to be Clean the City Cemetery Day.
