COLUMBUS, Miss (WCBI) – After serving up tasty sandwiches, soups, and salads in dowtown Columbus for the past 16 years, Front Door Back Door is closing.

Owner and operator Sarah Labensky says the decision to close the restaurant was not an easy one, but says she plans to devote more time to her writing. “I write cook books and text books and reference books and I’ve gotten kind of behind and I need to pick up on that.”

Labensky says she will miss running the restaurant and serving her loyal customers. “Friends that gather here for birthday lunches, baby showers, bridal showers…those kinds of groups that come in.”

But customers will still be able to enjoy some of their favorite menu items. Labensky says, “I’m putting together a cookbook of Front Door Back Door recipes. The chicken salad, the tortilla soup, the fudge pie, all things that we’re so known for.”

Labensky says she is working with a few downtown businesses to sell the books once they are printed. You can get information on where the cookbooks will be sold on the restaurant’s website, www.frontdoorrestaurant.com or on Facebook.

The last day for business at Front Door Back Door will be Saturday, September 8th.
