COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Columbus residents gathered Wednesday night to pray for the victims and the families involved in the Labor Day shooting that left one dead, one injured and another behind bars.

Evelyn Green held the event on Beech St. on Columbus’ East Side.

Community members held hands, and prayed for unity, safe keeping and closure of the violent events that have haunted many families, including those of 20-year old Alexander Brown.

Brown was fatally wounded on the city’s Northside Monday.

Chief Selvain McQueen was on hand for the vigil, that was also geared for the city’s youth to stop the violence.
