PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Prentiss County men are behind bars following arrests in two separate grand larceny cases.

Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) investigators arrested 48-year-old Booneville man Jeffrey Lambert Oct. 30.

The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of an ATV and trailer several months ago from a home on Hwy 364 in Prentiss County.

Lambert’s arrest, according to a press release provided by PCSO, was a result of the arrest of 49-year-old Pontotoc County man James Mark Allen, who was arrested Oct. 29 in Pontotoc in connection with numerous trailer thefts dating back to August.

Pontotoc Police Chief Randy Tutor said a citizen gave a tip to authorities, claiming they had seen Allen allegedly in the process of stealing a trailer from a business in the city.

Allen was charged with seven counts of grand larceny, and one count of attempted grand larceny. His bond was set at $50,000.

Prentiss County authorities also recovered five pull trailers in the county which had been reported stolen from Pontotoc County.

Authorities are also attempting to track down other reportedly stolen trailers that allegedly passed through Lambert’s possession.

Lambert was charged with one count of grand larceny and five counts of receiving and or possessing stolen property.

Lambert is currently detained on a $60,000 bond.

In a separate case, 52-year-old Keith Hargett, of Booneville, was arrested Oct. 30 on a grand larceny charge.

Hargett was arrested in connection with the theft of a pull trailer which had been stolen Oct. 29 from the Jumpertown area.

Hargett is behind bars on a $10,000 bond.
