Prentiss County Schools Closed Aug. 23, 24

PRENTISS CO., Miss. – (WCBI) A four vehicle crash in north Booneville leaves one dead and three injured.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. at the corner of Highway 1-45 and Gaston Rd.

Two vehicles collided on Highway 1-45. The impact of that crash apparently sent those two vehicles, into another two cars parked off the road

Prentiss County School Board members says that their Curriculum and Transportation Coordinator, Jason McKinney was killed in the accident.

McKinney was apparently struck went he got out the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Randle Downs was airlifted from the scene to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Also involved was the Special Education Director Luke Ledbetter, who was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.

The driver of one of the vehicles, who reportedly left the scene, is in custody tonight.

Prentiss County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Classes will resume August 27th.
