Project 2020 Takes Another Step Forward

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus’ innovative dropout recovery program takes another step forward.

The school board today awarded initial contracts to Genesis Church and the Rural Transportation Program to open E- Centers where dropouts can return to non-traditional classrooms with individualized instruction and life skill training to complete their high school diplomas.

Father’s Child Ministries will partner with RTP on one of the centers.

The E-Centers should be open this spring. Funding for the computers, instructors, contracts and other costs is covered by state and private sector grants.

The program is serving as a pilot for the rest of the state.
