COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The busy entrance to downtown Columbus gets a little brighter.

Columbus Light and Water has finished installing new energy-efficient street lights along Main Street all the way to Plymouth Road.

The lights previously went only to the eastbound Highway 82 off ramp.

Additional landscaping also has been added as part of the city’s efforts to beautify the entrance to downtown and the the Riverwalk and soccer park.

City Leaders say the lighting also will improve safety at the busy stretch of highway.
