Video: R.H. Brown Visits Starkville Class

STARKVILLE, Miss (WCBI)- Some Starkville students got a lesson in the Gullah culture Wednesday (11/05).

WCBI’s R.H. Brown was the special guest for a literature class at Starkville High School.

R.H. talked to the students about his unique heritage. The Gullah are descendants of slaves who live in a region of South Carolina and are known for preserving more of their African linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African-American community in the United States.

R.H. also talked to the students about writing his book “Call Me Gullah” and one lucky student even won a copy of the book.
