FAYETTE, ALA. (WCBI) — Qualifying still is weeks away but at least one West Alabama state legislative race likely will be contested next November.

Fayette resident Kyle South says he plans to run as a Republican against Democratic incumbent Daniel Boman of Sulligent for the 16th District House seat.

The district covers parts of Lamar, Fayette and Tuscaloosa counties.

The 32-year-old South is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is general manager of West Alabama Cable in Fayette.
