Re-sentencing Hearing for Brett Jones to Be Held This Month

Brett Jones

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – In 2004, Brett Jones was sentenced to life in prison without parole before he turned 16.  He was convicted of the stabbing death of his grandfather Bertis Jones.

The Mississippi Supreme Court voted in July to revoke his sentence based on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling which says it is constitutionally unfair to sentence a a juvenile to life without parole.

Jones’ hearing will be held in the Lee County Circuit Court on March 27.
