Rebels’ TE Jamal Mosley Ruled Ineligible for Compass Bowl

Senior tight end Jamal Mosley has been ruled ineligible for the Rebels’ bowl game against Pitt on January 5th.

Senior tight end Jamal Mosley was the only casualty.

Before the Christmas break, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze did not close the book on Mosely, saying it was possible that extra work might help him remain eligible.

That didn’t happen.

“With all the academic issues we inherited when we got here, you’re never going to be totally out of the woods, even though we did well to this point,” Freeze said.

The cumulative team grade point average for the fall semester was 2.8.

Mosley appeared in all 12 games, starting five. He had 27 catches for his two year career, 15 of them this year for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Mosley’s absence leaves the Rebels a little thin at tight end. Senior Ferbia Allen will play for the first time since sustaining a knee injury against Vanderbilt on Nov. 10.

Mosley and Allen received the overwhelming number of snaps at the position this season.
