Video: Revamping New Years Resolutions

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –A New Year, a new you! Many of us made those new years resolutions to get fit and be healthy, but fell off the wagon. Now that spring is in full swing, it may be a good time to revamp your lifestyle.

“Spring is a time when all things dormant in the winter seem to come back to life, and that’s how I feel. This old body has been laid up all winter and i’m just ready to get back out here,” says Johnny Lagrone

Now that the feel good weather is back in swing, many of us are itching to get outdoors and soak up some Vitamin D. But getting back into the groove of working out & eating healthy can be hard.

When asked what she was doing, Diana Neault responded, “I’m taking my lunch break and I just finished eating and getting a 30 min walk in before I go back into work. ”

Making little changes like Diana, can really add up. Incorporating an afternoon walk with the dog, bike riding, or even tending your garden can help get you back on the right track.

But getting off track is just as easy. Setting unrealistic goals can often be a set-up for a setback.

Fitness Factor Trainer Devione Bailey says, “set something that is reachable or you, like you just want to give yourself a time frame and just say one week, you want to meet this goal and then next you want to meet that goal. Week by week, just set the goals you say you need to be.”

Signing up for a race, having a work out partner, or even getting a personal trainer will help make you more accountable for your workouts

Exercising alone isn’t going to shape us up though. We also need the proper fuel.

Legrone says, “I try to eat healthy.”

Making simple changes in your diet can help lead to an overall better health. Small choices like choosing fruit over potato chips, or lean protein like chicken can help you trim those last 10 pounds.

In combination with exercising regularly, you will soon be back on track with your New Year’s goals.
