Roy Perkins Makes Victory Speech

The following was written by Starkville Ward 6 Alderman Roy A. Perkins:
I want to first thank all of the residents in Ward 6 of the great City of Starkville for allowing me to serve as your alderman for a sixth term, which is unprecedented in the history of this city. I am deeply humbled by their confidence in my commitment to the city, ability to stand for what is right, and strategies for obtaining desired outcomes.  My pledge to the citizens of Starkville and Ward 6 residents is to continue to enthusiastically promote Starkville as a destination place for people seeking a high quality of life including safe neighborhoods, streets, lighting, sidewalks, and public transit.  I will also continue to be a strong advocate for economic development and jobs for city residents. Residents can count on me to remain open-minded about new opportunities, attentive to the views and needs of citizens, and fiscally accountable to taxpayers.  My vision is for the City of Starkville to be a model for “college towns” in the Southeastern United States.  As always, I want to hear from all citizens and promise to be respectful and responsive to their views and concerns. In closing, I am especially thankful for my family, campaign volunteers, supporters, and the voters of Ward 6 for allowing me to continue serving my beloved City of Starkville.
