Scrap Thieves Nabbed

PRESS RELEASE:

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 2 individuals in connection with the theft of scrap metal that occurred on September 9, 2013 in Western Clay County. Clay County Sheriff Department deputies received information that scrap metal was missing from a residence and deputies responded to Jefferson Iron and Metals where they arrested Jonathan N. Clerk, age 33, of Cedar Bluff and Terrance D. Collins, age 30, of Maben.

Clerk and Collins are both charged with petit larceny and trespassing. Clerk also had warrants for his arrest for resisting arrest and false identifying information. Clerk is currently in the Clay County Detention Center, while Collins was released on a Clay County Justice Court bond. Court date has been set for November 7, 2013 at Clay County Justice Court.

Sheriff Eddie Scott is asking citizens to be alert for any suspicious activity around their residence.
