ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI)- Around 20 people, including Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell, sifted through rocks and tall grass along Darracot Road Wednesday afternoon, looking for any trace of Teresa Ewing.

“We’re heading to Morgan landing. The first place where someone suspected they’ve saw someone running in the woods and they weren’t sure what was going on. We’re going to start there first,” said Ewing’s older sister Irene Ewing.

The 26 year old has been missing since Sunday. The Monroe County Sheriff’s office is now assisting Aberdeen Police in the search.

“Teresa Ewing’s family came and talked to me about the disappearance from Sunday. She’s asked us to also assist the Aberdeen Police Department to see if we could help in this investigation and that’s what we’re going to do,” said Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

Aberdeen Police used GPS tracking systems from Teresa’s cell phone to re-trace her steps. APD spent their afternoon searching near the Tombigbee River. They also searched the woods near Finn Outdoor Products. Around 7 officers and 8 volunteers assisted the department. Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle tells WCBI they combed nearly 45 miles of woods. High-Tech help is also on the way Thursday morning. Randle says local, state,  and federal authorities will increase manpower, and expects the help will yield results in this search. Several residents are in shock over Teresa’s bizarre disappearance. Devante McMillian knew he had to volunteer.

“I just don’t understand it. 3 to 4 days missing and nobody knows anything. I know her, I know her whole family. I just hope for the best,” said McMillian.

Authorities are still questioning Teresa’s ex-boyfriend. He has not yet been charged, but remains in custody, as a person of interest.

“We’re interviewing him and talking to him to see if he could help us out in this particular case,” said Sheriff Cantrell.

Teresa’s family remains hopeful.

“There’s no end date. We’re one big community and everyone is working together trying to help.Any input is good. Say something, just any hints just let us know,” said Ewing.

Teresa is 5’9″ and weighs 170 to 180 lbs.  She was last seen wearing gray pajama pants and a white t-shirt.
