Sentencing Set For Former Oxford Policeman

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – A federal judge has set a Sept. 16 sentencing for former narcotics agent Searn Lynch, who pleaded guilty to lying to obtain prescriptions for pain medication.

Lynch had been scheduled for sentencing this week in U.S. District Court in Oxford, but it was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.

Lynch was fired from the Oxford Police Department after being charged with “doctor shopping” for prescription pain medicine. Court records show he was arrested on charges alleging that he got prescriptions from at least 17 doctors.

He pleaded guilty in April to one count of obtaining prescription drugs by deception.

His sentence can carry a maximum of four years in prison.
