A line of severe thunderstorms will race across the WCBI viewing area tonight.  The storms will affect our area between midnight (in the west) and 6 or 7 AM (in the east).

The primary threat with this activity will be damaging wind gusts between 60 and 80 mph.  There is a lot of wind energy just above the surface and it won’t take much to transfer it down to the ground where we live.  The threat of tornadoes is still there and we’ll be monitoring things closely during the night.

Be sure to stay weather aware tonight and have an action plan should severe weather affect your location.  The WCBI weather center is fully staffed and we’ll break into programming on TV should conditions warrant.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates as well.
