Sewage Rates Set to Increase for Some Lowndes Residents

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Some Lowndes County residents will pay more for their sewage.

Rates for the 120 customers of Ridgeland Waste Disposal will be going up $4 dollars a month, taking the bill from $16.50 to $20.50 a month.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley held a public hearing about the proposal at the Lowndes County Courthouse.

The Ridgeland owner reported that an emergency break, and a loan to repair it required the increase.

Presley approved the hike, and says the commission will review this case in five years, once the loan is paid.
