Shelton Names First Accountability Task Force Member

TUPELO, Miss. — Mayor Jason Shelton took his first steps toward forming a task force aimed at evaluating and monitoring the progress of city programs and initiatives. Today, the Mayor appointed James V. Coniglio, Ph.D. to head up the Task Force for Accountability and Transparency for the City of Tupelo.

Coniglio is a retired Colonel in the United States Army, a former professor and a respected Psychotherapist. While in the military he served in Europe, Vietnam and Latin America and represented the United States as a defense attaché in Columbia and Nicaragua. He earned several Bronze Stars, Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.

Mayor Shelton said, “Dr. Coniglio will bring a lot of experience to this role. His reputation for integrity makes him an excellent candidate to head this task force.”

Mayor Shelton said he will work with Dr. Coniglio and other leaders in the community to clearly define the role and objective of the task force.
