Shooting Range Gets County Okay

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Lafayette County supervisors have approved the construction of a shooting range on Mississippi Highway 7 near Abbeville.

Joshua Gregory, the owner of TGC Outdoors Firing Range, tells the Oxford Eagle (http://bit.ly/p2p8XY ) that the range will be used for a variety of weapons, from handguns to automatic weapons.

The board of supervisors voted 4-1 this week to approve the project over the objections of nearby residents about safety and noise.

Gregory plans a 12-foot safety berm and the site is encased on three sides.
