SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Smithville residents enjoyed the morning sunshine by getting ready for spring.

Volunteers with “Keep Monroe Beautiful” spent the morning planting bulbs throughout the town. Garden work started at the mayor’s office and continued on to Rod Brasfield Park. After the devastating tornadoes of April 2011, Smithville showed its community spirit by beautifying the area.

Edna Cox of Smithville said,”we are planting bulbs to make the park pretty. And we are going to put them all over Smithville. There are going to be bulbs all over Monroe County, we divide will all five districts in the county.”

Volunteers will continue planting those bulbs throughout other Monroe County towns in time for the spring.
