Smithville’s Kennedy to Run Again

PRESS RELEASE

SMITHVILLE, Miss. — At the Town of Smithville’s Employee Recognition dinner, Mayor Gregg Kennedy announced his intentions to run for re-election.

As a result of the EF5 tornado that struck Smithville on April 27, 2011, Mayor Kennedy feels it is his duty, to continue in the recovery efforts. While these efforts have been many, Mayor Kennedy remains optimistic.

Kennedy said, “Great things are happening here, in spite of the heartache and pain we have experienced over the past 19 months.”

Kennedy is a lifelong resident of Smithville and has served as mayor for three consecutive terms, being re-elected twice.

Prior to becoming mayor of Smithville, he served on the Board as Alderman for two consecutive four year terms.
