Today: We’ll start off mostly sunny and warm. Once again highs for the day in many places will be in the mid 90s with even hotter heat index values. Stormy conditions are possible during the 2nd half of the day as a cold front moves in from Tennessee. Showers and storms are first expected to develop across the northern half of Mississippi & Alabama in the early afternoon hours but they will race to the south with time. Some of the storms on Thursday may be severe with damaging wind gusts between 60 and 80 mph and hail at least 1″ in diameter. Brief heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning will also be threats. Not every location will experience a storm but we all need to be on guard because the atmosphere will be very unstable.
Friday & into the Weekend: Cooler and less humid air will return and the start of the weekend. Afternoon highs should only be in the upper 80s while overnight lows will feature refreshing low to to mid 60s.
Father’s Day: Warmer air with more humidity will return and it will hang around into next week. Typical summertime storms will probably return the area as well.
