Starkville Alcohol Rules

STARKVILLE, Miis. (WCBI) – Starkville is hoping a change in local liquor laws could boost economic development.

Under state law the sale of alcohol is not allowed within 400 feet of a church, school, child care facility or funeral home. Starkville city ordinances allow the sale of alcohol after 250 feet. The Starkville Board of Alderman is looking to amend that ordinance to allow the sale of alcohol within 250 feet but no less than 100 feet. The law allows churches and .funeral homes to waive the distance restrictions.

The ordinance change is set to be discussed at the next board of alderman meeting.
